The improvements made to the Porsche Panamera Turbo for the 2021 model year have resulted in impressive performance returns. Now referred to as the Turbo S, the ultra-quick four-door utilizes an upgraded version of its predecessor’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that now generates a supercar-worthy 620 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. Further upgrades include steering and suspension enhancements that have improved stability, traction and feedback. The final product is a highly capable sedan that is good for a 2.9-second zero to 60 mph run and a 7:29.81-minute lap on the Nürburgring. That lap time is enough to make the Porsche Panamera Turbo S the quickest car in the Executive category around the acclaimed circuit. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S previously held the record for the fastest lap around the Nürburgring with a 7:30.11 time.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which are available on the production car, provided ample grip during the record lap. A safety cage was used along with a racing seat, but other than that the car was in production form. The Turbo S comes with a 620-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8. Its 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission effectively puts down the power. Porsche’s all-wheel drive system provides quick and consistent launches along with plenty of grip on the track. The car will be available at dealerships during Spring 2021.
