The incredible performance of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S was on full display at Sydney International Airport for its spectacular Australian market launch. The unprecedented event took months of preparation and showcased the remarkable performance ability of the latest legendary German supercar iteration. Porsche borrowed a single 1.4-mile runway at the busy airport to host its show. A total of 48 VIPs were invited to attend the special launch and witness the one of a kind event.
Porsche’s new 911 Turbo S has recorded one of the quickest 0 to 60 mph acceleration times for the iconic nameplate at 2.6 seconds. The new model utilizes a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-6 that generates 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Performance enhancements include a new revised air intake system that incorporates additional airflows and an improved airflow path. The new engine also benefits from bigger Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbos. The turbine wheels are now up to 55 millimeters. That is a 5 millimeter increase over the previous design. Another part that was changed is the compressor wheel, which now measures 61 millimeters. The performance upgrades have resulted in not only a boost in horsepower and torque, but engine response and efficiency as well. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic translates the power and spins all four wheels.
Pricing for the new Porsche 911 Turbo S starts at $203,500 for the coupe configuration.
